Galenica

Galenica is a privately owned Swedish pharmaceutical company, authorized and audited by the Swedish Medical Products Agency (MPA). We develop, manufacture and commercialize pharmaceutical products, with a strong focus on dermatology. Our portfolio consists of proprietary and in-licensed pharmaceuticals marketed across the Nordic region and several European markets. With more than 25 years of pharmaceutical experience, Galenica combines scientific expertise, formulation know-how and commercial capabilities throughout the pharmaceutical product lifecycle.

Today, our business is focused on three core areas:

Pharmaceutical Products: Developing, launching and commercializing our own branded and in-licensed pharmaceutical products.

Pharmaceutical Development: Applying our extensive formulation and analytical expertise to the development of Galenica’s future pharmaceutical portfolio.

Commercial Manufacturing: GMP-certified pharmaceutical manufacturing at our facilities in Malmö, including selected manufacturing partnerships with external pharmaceutical companies.

For more than 20 years, Galenica provided pharmaceutical development services to over 100 clients worldwide. This has given us extensive experience in pharmaceutical development, formulation and manufacturing. Today, this expertise provides a strong foundation for the development and expansion of our own pharmaceutical portfolio. Our ambition remains the same – to combine pharmaceutical expertise, flexibility and innovation to develop high-quality products that improve patient health.

Galenica has broad expertise across the pharmaceutical process, from formulation and analytical development to manufacturing, regulatory activities and commercialization. This gives us a strong understanding of what it takes to develop a pharmaceutical product from idea to market. Today, our products are marketed by Galenica and through licensing partners across several European markets.

Galenica operates GMP-certified manufacturing facilities in Malmö and provides commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing for an external partner.

Quality and patient safety are fundamental to everything we do. Galenica operates within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment and is audited and authorized by the Swedish Medical Products Agency for GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), GDP (Good Distribution Practice) and GVP (Good Pharmacovigilance Practice). Our quality management system supports our activities throughout the pharmaceutical value chain and ensures compliance with applicable legislation, standards and guidelines.

Galenica was founded in 1999 by pharmacists Ronnie Wallin and Henri Hansson in Malmö, Sweden. Both founders had extensive experience in pharmaceutical research and formulation technology before starting the company. They identified a market need for a flexible Swedish pharmaceutical partner specializing in formulation and development services. Over the following two decades, Galenica grew into an established pharmaceutical development partner, supporting more than 100 companies and building extensive expertise across formulation, analytical development and manufacturing. Building on this expertise, Galenica launched its first proprietary pharmaceutical product in 2012 and has continued to expand its portfolio ever since. Today, our strategic focus is on developing our own pharmaceutical products and expanding our portfolio through selected in-licensing opportunities.

Our organization brings together expertise in pharmaceutical development, analytical science, manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, supply chain and commercialization. By combining scientific knowledge with commercial experience and a strong commitment to quality, we continue to develop Galenica and our pharmaceutical portfolio for the future.
